Find something that supports data transfer, not just power.

Ideally find a powered hub, not one that depends upon the computer for power.

After that is is really up to you. I know you would like an answer like "click here and buy this" but I am sure you will have just as much fun spending a morning reading reviews. ;-)

Not sure what exactly that you are looking for. There are a lot of different ones out there, and you can use whatever one you like. There really isn't a particular brand that will be different. I usually go by the ones that look like the ones that I want to use. Are you looking for one that has a lot of ports, are you looking for one that is more portable. It all depends on what you're looking for, you pick one for what you need that fits your needs.
