What is "Other" category in my mac? I have over 100 GB of those but it is greyed out so I cannot manage those.

We see you have a large amount of storage space being taken up by "Other" on your Mac.


Depending on your macOS version, the "Other" category may include any files that are not automatically sorted into one of the pre-set categories such as Apps, Documents, Photos, etc. If a file cannot be sorted into one of those categories, it may fall under Other.


As data with the Other designation is still your data, it varies as to what is contained within that section. We'd recommend looking over the tips outlined in the article below to free up space on your Mac:


Additionally, if you haven't already, take a moment to ensure your Mac is on the latest incremental update of macOS. You can confirm if you have any incremental updates using the steps below:
