iPhone5 disabled won't enter DFU mode

First. spare me the insult of merely repeating the instructions of how to get to DFU mode, they do not work.

There IS NO Apple store or Genius bar within 500 miles of here, so I get the occasional request to help with Apple products.

Stuck on the disable screen, owner does not remember appleID and guessed too often. Steps to enter DFU or recovery mode DO NOT WORK.

Holding Home and Power ON does not work.

Connecting to computer while holding Home does not work.

This is not the first time nor first iPhone where I have run into this.

Is there another method or can you simply and honestly tell me the phone is hooped and there's nothing can be done about it?

If it is a problem with apple ID then it is not disabled, it is activation locked.

Unknown passcode - results in disabled

Unable to enter apple ID password - results in activation lock.

If you don't know the apple ID Details see whichever of the following is most appropriate.

If that is not the issue then you need to describe STEP BY STEP

what you have done

What you see on the screen when you do it.

For every step. Just saying "I've done everything" doesn't help. No-one can help you with that level of information.

Not that either. The home button wakes the iPhone and brings up the disabled screen so it works fine.

Not my iPhone. Dumb friend that forgot their AppleID, it is NOT her current email address...
