Would my iPhone XR be okay if it fell completely in under water. is it water resistant ? Don’t want a waterproof case on it

No iPhone is waterproof and water damage voids the warranty and can't be repaired..

If you’re going to deliberately take it underwater, then you need to invest in a very good underwater use case. They are not cheap but there are good ones for use when snorkeling or diving. Especially important with salt water or pool water which are very corrosive. Even then, water damage voids your warranty.
