Catalina 10.15.7 unable to use synology NAS for timemachine

issue: Using Macbook Pro mid 2012 Updated to Catalina 10.15.7 (unable to update to big Sur as it is not supported by apple). Own a Synology NAS that is connected via my router. Followed Synology support to enable SMB not AFP.. Set Time machine folder. Went in under MacOS users and permanently mapped my synology drive to start upon reboot so i can see it always. Went in under Time machine setting and selected timemachine folder (able to see synology NAS folder). Allowed time machine to start. Time machine gathered information then got a connection lost notice. Additionally my network was lost ( could not connect to any websites on browser, all NAS drives got disconnected). Only way was 1) turn off WiFi and restart after 10 sec (any lower and it will not work) or restart PC. Upon restart drives connect again.

Can any one help.. I see issues like this for MAC OS big Sur and trued to clean

sudo rm -r /Volumes/com.apple.TimeMachine.localsnapshots

and

sudo tmutil deletelocalsnapshots /

both failed as no such folder com.apple.Time* & Failed to delete all Time Machine local snapshots for volume group containing disk '/'

under /Volume only see .timemachine and so see NAS DS name folder with data. tried to sudo rm -r folder but it will not.
