Removed TV show - no refund

I purchased a season pass for season 19 of Hells Kitchen. For the last two weeks, I have not been notified of new episodes. Now I cannot find any seasons of Hells Kitchen on the iTunes store. I contacted Apple Support and was told that the program has been removed from the store, and no, I cannot get a refund for the season pass.

What justification does Apple have for treating its customers like this?

Unfortunately, the “justification” are the terms as explained in Apple’s legal documents - a contract you agreed to when you signed up for the service. It specifically mentions that there is no guarantee that the content will be available at all times.

Two things:

A. Contact Apple Support:

If financial issues are coming about, then contact Apple Support. If you need even more help, then ask Apple Support. Calling them, they'll see this from this side, and will run you through the fix. Request Apple Support to perform a screensharing session to show them what you see on your screen.

Apple Support Contact Info:

Note: Phone calls are taking a bit to go through at the moment, due to lots of calls. With the Coronavirus Pandemic, many are at home at the moment, with much time on their hands to contact Apple. So, just stay on the line, and you will get through :)

B. Inform Apple of this:

Do your Part: Give Apple Feedback on what is going on here. Apple won't get back to you directly, but the more feedback they receive on this, the more they will know what their customers prefer and how to meet their needs.

  1. Go Here: Feedback - Apple TV - Apple
  2. Select: "Report a Problem" for the "Feedback Type"
  3. Comment On: When you came across this, and how you have troubleshoot it thus far.
  4. Proceed from these as necessary.

Rather than immediately blaming Apple, there is also the very likely probability that the network has withdrawn the episodes or season remainder. There are too many possibilities of why it has disappeared/been discontinued to assign blame to Apple - the app store and iTunes store are just that: stores offering other people's or companies' items. And, again, I refer to the terms (link is above) which state that there is no guarantee that any content purchased will be available later. That is something that you agreed to when you purchased it. (FWIW, one of the reasons why I do not purchase anything there).

The blame on Apple isn't that the show is unavailable - at least not for me. I suspect that Apple would be it available if they could (after all, they did sell a season pass), but now somehow the episodes are unavailable. I suspect that it is a licensing issue. Unfortunately, you're charged for the whole season in advance and only half of the episodes were ever available, so Apple collected money for something that was never provided.

Mostly the same issue for me - I got the first half of Season 19 and can still watch that, but nothing after that. I do have a couple of other seasons of ****'s Kitchen on iTunes and, at the moment, those are still available. Apple clearly could automatically refund purchases when they pull them from availability but elect not to - knowing that many people won't bother calling in to get their refund. As an avid iTunes media consumer (I have over 630 movies and countless TV Shows and songs), I expect better from Apple (for what it is worth).
