Snapshot with "live_" prefix

I have a 14Tb external drive with a snapshot named "live_04E1DC7C-D27F-4D56-9B21-F21B6F566B5" that is 3.3Tb in size. I believe it was created when I modified lots of files during an initial Time Machine backup.

Tools like Daisy Disk that can clear out Time Machine snapshots can't get rid of it.

Does anyone know what that is and if it will get cleaned up as the disk gets full? It shows "800Gb" free right now with 3.4Tb "purgeable".

Hi Steve Martin7,

We see you have a large snapshot on your external hard drive in use with Time Machine.

From what you've told us, this sounds like a local snapshot. These are managed automatically by macOS and will clear out as that space is required. Alternatively you can remove them manually by toggling Time Machine off and then on again.
