synching smart playlist to iphone, the apple music playlist is in alphabetical order, the corresponding playlist on the iphone is not.
Yes, there is a sort order option in the iphone Music playlist section, but it seems to only change the order of the playlists themselves and not the songs within.

Regular playlist or smart? You might try removing the list from your sync selection, then add it again. Or it might be broken. I'm using Apple Music these days which limits my ability to run tests on regular sync behaviour.

This is a Smart Playlist on Apple Music Big Sur.
During my testing, I deleted the smart playlist and recreated from scratch with no difference.
I also, during synching, alternately synced and removed the playlist from my iPhone without change in sort
THIS FINALLY WORKED FOR ME!!! I have been searching for an answer for years, I like my playlists sorted by recently added and I could always do this on my iMac but it was never duplicated on my iPhone until I tried this, THANK YOU! Crazy there isn't a simple sort function on the phone like every other music streaming app!
Smart playlists can be evaluated independently on the device so may use a default sort order rather than an order synced from the library.

Right click on the name of the playlist in the sidebar when it is in your chosen order and click Copy to Play Order. Sync.
