keep old text group and start new one with same people

I have a large family and we text frequently. My older siblings have a hard time finding older texts and want to start a new group periodically, while still keeping the old group (as archives?). My phone seems to recognize that I'm texting my siblings and won't let me make them into a new group (i.e. not just change name of the group). Is this doable?

iPhone 8 Plus, iOS 14

Hi there jmn544,

We understand you'd like to create a new group text with the same contacts included, and we'd like to share some information.

Sending a group text to the contacts in an existing group text will continue that conversation. In order to create a new group text, you can message different contacts or delete the previous one.
