bootmgr is corrupt

I have tried installing Windows 10 on my 2013 rMBP

Ran bootcamp with a iso from Microsoft website

Bootcamp creates the usb drive and I select 150GB to partition for the install

windows 10 installs fine and reboots

on rebooting i get the following message

Bootmgr image is corrupt. the system cannot boot

I have ran diskutil list in terminal details below

Darren@Darrens-MBP ~ % diskutil list

/dev/disk0 (internal, physical):

   #:                       TYPE NAME                    SIZE       IDENTIFIER

   2:                 Apple_APFS Container disk1         500.1 GB   disk0s2

/dev/disk1 (synthesized):

so far i have erased the drive and reinstalled Catalina fresh but still get the error above on trying to install bootcamp

You currently do not have a Bootcamp/Windows partition. What is the current macOS version?

Also, your early 2013 Mac should have three Options/Tasks - Create, Download and Install (or Remove).

  • Create (+Download) uses a USB2 Flash drive of 16GB to create a W10 installer
  • Install uses the USB2 installer to partition and install Windows.

If the partitioning works and the installer starts, but the Boot configuration update fails, it is possible that the current macOS version/BC Assistant does not work properly with a 2013 Mac.

If you use Create+Download, you need to use these options only once. Once you have a USB2 Installer built, you can use it repeatedly for the Install option. One issue that I have seen frequently is that (2015 and) older Macs are not supported well in the current W10 20xx releases. You may need to find an older W10 ISO (19xx or 18xx).

Soz I don’t even know what you mean bud

I just run bootcamp with the usb in and let it do it’s thing. it formats and creates what it does off the iso image of Windows 10.

Then it installs Windows 10 fully but when it reboots during install I just get that error

Bootmgr image is corrupt. The system can not boot.

It’s a early 2013 Retina model number ME665LL/A I think

Don’t think it gets that far to install the Bootcamp drivers

Basically it installs Windows 10 to 100% then says it’s rebooting then I get the above message when it restarts

if I hold the options key I have 3 options Windows / OS X or EFI

OS X loads fine but Windows won’t and not tried the EFI option

I can try again and run Bootcamp and a Win 10 install and photo it how far it gets if it’s any help mate
