Search completed reminders

Since the latest update, completed reminders no longer show in search results. Any way to fix this? This used to be a simple way to keep a grocery list, and to search for and uncheck an item to add it back to the list.

I have not removed the reminders (there are 100+ completed reminders), they still show when I display completed reminders, and I can find them with search on my iPhone, just not the iPad. I’ve force closed reminders and restarted the iPad, no luck. I just found, however, that if I uncomplete a reminder and then mark it as complete again, it will show up. Likewise if I create and complete a new reminder. So apparently it’s only a problem with reminders completed prior to the last update.

I'm not experiencing this on neither my iPad or iPhone. If I type in a search parameter, it will display current and completed reminders. Is it possible that you have removed the completed reminder? What troubleshooting have you tried? Force closed the Reminders app, power cycle the iPad, force restart the iPad? The next steps require backups and restoring.

Hi Anthony,

Thank you for posting in the Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you'd like to be able to see a reminder after is is completed, correct? If so, we would love to help see if we can get the issue resolved for you. Let's go ahead and follow the steps we've linked for you below under "Mark a reminder as complete".

Sorry, this doesn’t address my question. I thought it was clear, but let’s try again. When I enter something in the Reminders search window on my iPad, only open reminders show in search results. Completed reminders do not show in results. For example, if there is a reminder “Bread” that has been completed, it will not show if I enter “Bread” in the search window. However it works correctly on an iPhone, but not on the iPad. This problem only exists since the latest iPad iOS update.

Which last update are you referring to? That can give me something to check dates for completed reminders on my device. I do not normally keep most of them for long. I find it easier for me to just construct a new reminder or list than to search for past completed ones. I'm not saying you are wrong for what you are trying to do, but I can tell if something that I've completed was done before or after the update you are referring to.
