Msn Messenger Not signing in...

Hi mrsplants.

I have had the same problem. I keep getting the error message that the server is not responding. I have been using Messenger v.8 beta with no problems up till this morning. I have tried erasing and reinstalling but to no avail. I have also tried messenger v.7 but still the same problem.
On the Mactopia site it appears that this problem has arisen for EVERYONE and no-one can sign in. It seems that it something to do with the hotmail update.
Perhaps Microsoft will do something about it - who knows?

i tried using mercury, amsn, and adium too, they all wont sign in.

bootcamp'ed to Vista and yes, the windows client signs in fine.



i could only think that maybe the safari 5.0.1 update broke some stuff?

I'm at 10.6.3 - same issue. I was using it as late as about 8:15 AM eastern - then it suddenly logged me off and won't let me back on. Tried Adium and Microsoft Messenger. I can login fine from Windows VMs and a Windows laptop.

I used messenger last night quite a while after I had installed the safari update and had logged off and on a few times, so I dont think it is that to blame. From what I have read on other discussion sites it may have something to do with a hotmail update?

Can't be the hotmail update/MSN server problem as MSN works completely fine on a Windows PC using windows live messenger, I just tried.

I tried shortly after you and could not log in. I have just tried again 20.00 GMT and managed to get online.

Just tried again now 20.10 and it is still working.

I wonder if it is the Safari update that has thrown a spanner in the works?

Safari update? Does Mac have any resolution to this? Haha i wonder if any Geniuses from Mac actually read the forum. Apparently MSN works completely fine on a Windows PC anytime anywhere. Sigh.

So it should - that is what it is designed for!! sigh sigh sigh.

Just began happening to me. The server is not responding. But it is fine on the phone. And aMSN is also working.

This is for both the beta 8 and 7.0.2 as well. Happen to anyone lately?

Happened to me about a week ago.

deleted msn and reinstalled several versions. restarts make no difference 😟 works fine still on any windows machine.

i havent updated anything recently (actually at all yet!)

same problem, the contact list just won't load, tried on several machines and different ISPs.
Adium works and so does eBuddy on iPhone.

Been having same problem, so re-created a new ID and used a Windows Live ID rather than my own email address.

It's been working fine ever since.

Not the pain it might seem, you can use your MSN profile page to change your email address once you have created the new ID and it moves all your contacts over.

Personally, I find all Microsoft products flaky at the best of times, and their websites are even worse.
