I have just noticed on my serie 6 apple watch it does not have a cover for the release buttons on back where u change the straps.
why is this ?
check my old watch and that doesn’t either that is what is missing

That is not a "cover" in your screen shot, it is a replacement button to repair a broken one. No Apple Watch has ever had a cover over the buttons.
