update Bootcamp + Macbook help!

Okay, so. I have a question. I'm on my school macbook air 2017. Do you have to update you macbook for bootcamp to continue working? I mean, if you have updated you mac right before fixing bootcamp, and you're only using Windows and then your mac have a new update. Do you have to update your mac or not? And is that the same for Bootcamp, do you have to update? Or will it still work.

Because, since i'm on my school macbook I can't switch back to mac and the reason is that my school have fixed a Disk protector (DON'T KNOW WHATS IT'S CALLED!!!) which won't let any anything copy my disk. So, I'll be stuck on Windows since I don't know the password to the Firmware/Firmlock unless I go to school and they have to fix it. Help!

You do not need to update the software, unless there are Security updates as part of the release.

Apple security updates - Apple Support has a comprehensive list of updates. You should keep an eye on this and choose if you want any updates.

macOS Big Sur has known issues with Bootcamp/Windows. Please be careful. If you can, stay with macOS Catalina.

You do not need to update Bootcamp Assistant, but you may need Bootcamp drivers update. If your school has put a firmware password on the Mac, please ensure that the Control Panel (Boot Camp Control Panel User Guide for Mac - Apple Support) works properly.

I think everything worked properly when I used it last before my school was able to get me back on mac. But do I have to update my mac, Software update? Before I fixed Bootcamp on my mac I didn't update for big sur 11.2.3 and It still worked properly (from what I experienced)
