There is Rosetta 2 that can translate any program that is not written to use the M1 chip. It has even been shown to run them better through Rosetta 2 on an M1 chip than they run on an Intel chip. If you have software that isn't developed to run on the M1 chip, then your computer will prompt you to download Rosetta 2 to allow the application to run on your MacBook Pro.

ANY software that runs natively under MacOS Big Sur can run, and often run very well, under Rosetta emulation.


Heavily 'tuned' software may be quirky at times (either slower of faster) because Rosetta emulation can interfere with the hand-tuning for intel that the software maker implemented.


Exceptions are apps that require Intel emulation instructions such as Intel versions of Parallels or VirtualBox, and Microsoft Windows for Intel, and Android emulation software that directly executes Intel emulation instructions.
