Does the Apple Pencil 2 drain the iPad?

I just started using an Apple Pencil 2 with my new iPad Pro 12.9 4th generation model, and I am loving it! I was wondering whether leaving the pencil attached to the iPad's magnet over long stretches of time (while not connected to mains power) drains the iPad's own battery. If so, to what extent? This might become a concern during extended periods between recharges of the iPad. Would it be better to keep the two separate?

Thanks!

The tiny internal Li-ion battery is susceptible to permanent/irreversible damage through being left discharged for long periods.

It is essential that if you have an Apple Pencil that you charge it regularly - whether used or not - so as to protect the battery from deep-discharge. Do not allow a pencil to remain in low-charge state for any period of time - as the internal battery will fail, rendering the Pencil useless. Setting aside an unused Pencil, for extended periods, is a recipe for premature death of the Pencil battery.

A second generation Pencil should be docked with the host iPad whenever it is not being actively used - as this will optimally charge and maintain the Pencil battery. The overall impact upon iPad battery endurance is negligible.
