Unlocking a disabled phone

How do I unlock a disabled iPhone 4? It is not registering when I connect it to my iTunes and it is no longer on my iCloud either. It is my phone from years ago that I pulled out of a drawer and what to get it working again, but managed to lock it as I couldn't remember the passcode. Everything online only suggests iTunes and iCloud for factory settings.
