Alarm not going off on iPhone 12 and only Apple watch series 6

Nightstand mode is OFF. I charge my watch at night and never wear it to bed. I don’t always charge my phone at night.

I didn’t have this problem with the same phone and my series 4 watch.

Went through all of the settings with Apple tech tonight and still couldn’t get the alarm to sound on the phone. I even turned off the sleep setting on the watch!

I now have a Genius Bar appointment, but WTH? What’s with the new watch??
