Can I go from cable connect to wireless after first backup?
Can I switch from a cabled connection to wireless to do an incremental backup or will I be forced to start a new one?
Thanks, Tom

I do not see how this would be an issue.
Do not change the name of the Backup drive, this definitely would cause an issue.
Report back your success or failure...

I only hesitate b/c in the past the wireless (NAS) drive was seen as a different
device - and now I don't have enough room for 2 complete b.u.'s. But come
to think of it . . . I'm only cabled from Mac to Time Capsule - not directly to the
device itself. The drive is cabled to the router, too - so maybe I worry needlessly.
You asked about this in a different thread also -- I assume it's the same issue. When you select a drive to be your backup destination, it should be remembered after you dismount it, remount it at some later time, etc.
If your first backup is through a cable and then you reconnect via wireless, as long as the drive is still recognized as the same drive/device, the incremental backup via wireless should be a smaller incremental one. Just select "Backup Now" and if the backup starts, it is recognized as the same drive. If it returns and says the drive cannot be found, then the drive or the device it is connected to/through is not being seen as the same device, e.g. switching from cabled to wireless is through a different interface and "looks" like a different device to Time Machine.
It worked - just as you each said!
Thank you for the support, Tom
