Mails deleted from my Inbox do not appear in Trash

Emails deleted from my inbox do not appear in Trash, as they did on my prior MacBook. How can I achieve this.

I'm using apple mail on my MacBook, via a local internet provider, and just cleaned up my inbox and deleted about 1K emails from my inbox, but when I went to my trash they were nowhere to be seen, nor were they in my "deleted" folder. are they still on my computer somewhere?

Mac Mail has downloaded thousands of deleted emails to my inbox! Help! Yesterday I noticed my inbox (which I keep very minimal and clean) had over 5000 deleted emails return. Mail on my phone is fine - the inbox there is still minimal. Is there a setting I need to check to return my macbook mail to normal?

MacOS Mail junk versus spam I regularly check my JUNK folder to restore legitimate emails which are often included, and then delete all the rest. But there are also SPAM folders which are independent of the Junk filter. How can I ensure that these unread spam emails are automatically moved to the Junk folder so I don’t have to scan the rubbish twice? If I manually move all the spam emails to Junk, will MAIL then remember that the spam emails are also junk and move them there automatically in future? Would they also retain the label SPAM which is visible in my smart mailbox for UNREAD mail? How does MAIL distinguish between JUNK and SPAM? If the Spam emails are registered externally by Apple, then I would feel confident in just deleting them all without even checking them, something I cannot do with Junk mail.

Make changes to email preferences

Mail>Preferences>Accounts

If no other solutions work, try setting up your email account again. To do that, remove your email account, then add the account back.
