First, your iPad Magic Keyboard has no batteries to charge; the Keyboard is powered by the iPad.

You will need to seek assistance directly from Apple. The technicians at the Genius Bar of your local Apple Store will be able to test and assess your iPad and Keyboard - and offer appropriate advice.
Alternatively, you might contact Apple Support - but they will not be able to offer hand-on functional testing. You’ll find the Get Support link at top-right of this page. You can also initiate a support case using the excellent Apple Support App:
Hopefully the link already provided will already provide useful guidance. As for having connection difficulties, carefully clean the smart connector contacts with a dry (lint free cloth), or soft pencil eraser.
I have exactly the same problem. Contacted apple support and did not solve problem. It appears that have to return MK..it only worked for a month..
Still doesn’t work. It literally was working, I ran the newest update, and then it said accessory was not supported. It seems to be an update problem. Please advise. I hate tying on the screen for my studies. Thanks.
