system update

In the system preferences, where do I find the "software update?" I have an IMAC 2009, 3.06 Ghz Intel Core Duo, Memory 4GB 1067MHz DDr3, NVIDIA GeForce 9400 246 MB, Serial # W8***5PC,

Any updates for High Sierra have basically stoped since about November 13, 2020 with the Security update 2020-005.


Now, if we are mixing upDate with upGrade - an upgrade would mean moving from High Sierra to a new version of macOS like Mojave etc. In that case, the Age of the computer will govern what new macOS it qualifies for. In your case, High Sierra is the last version this computer can run and nothing newer.
