I’m locked out of my Mac book account because I forgot my password how do I sort this

I’m locked out of my Mac book account because I forgot my password to the account. What can I do?

Do you mean your main login/admin password? The one you use when you start up your computer? If that’s the one, then restart holding down the Apple +R keys together on your keyboard. You should see a language selection screen, pick one and continue. Using your mouse or trackpad, move the cursor to the top centre of your screen and click. You should see OS X tools. From there, pick Terminal and continue . Type in: “resetpassword”, But without the “marks. Press enter/return on your keyboard. This should get you into the main admin/login password reset app built into the Mac OS.
