Fan running constantly when not using many apps

Why does my fan run so much when I am not even using many applications? It mostly runs when I'm in zoom class or when I'm playing video games.

Well games stress the computer's CPU & GPU creating heat. Anything video related can also stress the CPU and GPU as well.

Try an SMC Reset.

Run the Apple Diagnostics to look for any hardware issues.

To look for software issues run EtreCheck and post the report here using the "Additional Text" icon which looks like a piece of paper.
