iPad dead. Plugged in it shows the battery and redline but the. Does not charge no matter what charging cable or brick is used

iPad is dead. Will not turn on. When I plug in to charge the battery the battery and red line appear on the screen but the iPad does not charge. I’ve tried a combination of apple cables and charging bricks to no avail. Do I need to replace the battery? Is my $800 iPad now a paperweight?
