So my iPod classic 5th gen 30gb will not boot up it just says please wait very low battery mode. It also won’t go in disk mode

iPod touch, 7th gen. With eleven months use fails to boot up, turn on, when the power button is engaged. Ipod Nano 3rd Gen RESET/BOOT loop when plugged in. Do I need a functioning battery? Hello. My Nano 3rd gen (square one) doesn't have a working battery. However, days ago it would work perfectly fine when plugged into a power source. Recently, even when plugged in, it won't go past the boot screen. It goes to the apple logo, shuts off, then starts again and resets. I can't flash the system as it doesn't stay on long enough. I'm wondering if this is just a battery problem. But does it actually need a functioning battery? Why won't it stay on while it's plugged in?

Charge it overnight from a computer rather than a power brick.
