How do I shut down my phone

or go to: Settings>General>Shut Down (last option at the very bottom).

Press and hold the side button.

If you really want your device shut down you need to completely drain the battery.

Otherwise is always on regardless.

It is very unwise to completely drain the battery. Do not follow that advice.
