Songs are automatically added to play next

Running Big Sur 11.2.3 and Music 1.1.3.3

I'm finding that whenever I play a song by either double-clicking it, or highlighting it and clicking on the ▶️ button, the song plays AND is added 20 times to the Play Next list. Now, I like listening to certain songs multiple times, but not 20! Why is this happening and how can I stop it?

You appear to have engaged single track repeat mode. Use Controls > Repeat > Off to turn it off.
