Only a few messages get deliver to my iPad
Why are most of the texts sent to my phone not appearing on my iPad?

Because texts sent to your iPhone are of two very different types:
- SMS messages, sent to/from cellular telephones. Your iPad is not a cellular telephone.
- iMessages, sent to/from Apple devices. Your iPad is an Apple device, and therefore sends and receives these.
You may if you wish forward text messages to/from the iPhone.
