Verify Compatibility:

I. Find the Model Number:

1. Go to: Apple menu
2. Select: About this Mac
3. View: Third line down

II. View Apple Site:

See if the model shown here. If not, installation is just not an option.

Back up your data, check your applications for compatibility, and if your Mac model is recent enough, click on Mojave, Catalina, or Big Sur. They're full-version upgrades and won't appear in the Updates tab.

If your Mac originally shipped with High Sierra, it can run Big Sur.
