Black Flash while on FaceTime

While using FaceTime, I often see a black flash on my screen. The person on the other side of the call sees it as well. Are we being watched and spied on?

erikbwilson,

Thanks so much for letting us know more about the issue you're experiencing.

Just to help narrow things down further, can you let us know if you had a chance to go through the steps outlined in the "If you have connection or sound quality issues with FaceTime" part of the link we previously provided? If so, did that seem to improve the issue at all?

Which device and software version are you using? If you're using an iOS device, this page can help you find the iOS version number: Find the software version on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod

In the meantime, you can find some good information about FaceTime privacy here: iMessage and FaceTime & Privacy

Thanks!

Hey erikbwilson,

It sounds like the screen is flashing when using FaceTime, correct? We'd like to see how we can help.

Just to confirm, does this happen on all FaceTime calls, or is it intermittent? If it happens intermittently, does it only happen on calls with a specific contact?

When this happens, does the video appear to cut out, or disconnect temporarily? If so, the, "If you have connection or sound quality issues with FaceTime" part of this page has some information and steps that may help: If you can't make a FaceTime call on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Take care!
