Subtitles
Why won’t the subtitles show, even though I have turned them on. I tried on my smart tv Apple app and also on Roku Apple TV app. I have tried on more than one show.

The Apple TV app would take the default subtitle settings from the device, on devices with such a global setting.
You may activate/change the subtitle track during playback, using the Down button. Turn on subtitles and closed captioning (if available) - Control what’s playing in the Apple TV app - Apple TV app user guide - Apple Support
