Has Adobe Flash Player been discontiued? I get messages that I should uninstall it. Is this true or some sort of scam?

Flash id dead. Adobe killed it. They announced the death of flash all the way back in 2017.
Remove it from your machine. There is no more flash content out there for it to play.

Don't download anything that is said to be installed from the internet. Get official instructions here: https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-mac-os.html.
If you did download something from one of those messages, run Malwarebytes for Mac (free): https://www.malwarebytes.com/mac/.
