Retrieve old Password from Note App

Why can’t Apple help unlock the notes password? There must be an option on how its done. If there is no solution then this device is useless. At least reset a password and send to email so we can reset. Simple as that. Don’t make things to complicated for us. We give you money you help us with the problem.

We are other users like you, and not folks that work for Apple.

Your data is encrypted with industry-standard AES encryption, using your (lost) password as the key.

Apple does not track your password, nor does Apple upload it, nor does Apple save your Notes password locally.

The Apple implementation of data security is better and more robust than you might want for this case, alas.

Efforts to add backdoors do tend to open that access to everybody sooner or later, unfortunately.

There’s no backdoor here, and the AES encryption used here has no known vulnerabilities and no backdoors.

There are times when Face ID will not work, such as when you restart your phone, update your phone, or if your phone has not been used for a period of time, typically 12 hours, but it varies. In these situations you need the password. It’s not clear why your notes stopped using your Face ID, but it could be most of these reasons (except the timeout). If it isn’t accepting your face the only way to access locked notes is with the password. If you use iCloud Keychain if might be in your Settings/Passwords. Otherwise there is no way to recover or reset the password for locked notes.

He’s completely serious. Apple does not know your password, and, as the only place it exists is on your phone, they have no way to reset it. When you created it you were told to write it down, and you had an option to add a password hint. If you didn’t do either it is entirely your personal responsibility.

It’s not the same as your Apple ID, which lives on Apple’s servers where they can manage it.

Similar issue, but different. I have locked notes, but they have been set up to open with my face id. Today, all of a sudden, my face id won't open my locked notes, but is asking for a password which I cannot remember. My face id works fine with all of my other apps, just not with the Notes app. This is the first time this has happened. I checked my settings and the Notes app is set up to open with face id. Any help you can give me with this?
