Disk0 and OS X Base system

Started my Mac after not using it in very long. It started with a flashing folder with question Mark. Did the Command R restart and then went to check disk utility.


shows disk0 and below that OS X Base system.


what do I do from here? Please help, step by step would be helpful. 🤦🏻‍♀️


need to install OS X Mavericks by the looks of it.

Thanks for the post in Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you're only seeing disk0 and OS X Base System when you try booting your Mac into macOS Recovery mode. We know it's important to keep your Mac running, and we'd like to see if we can help.


If you haven't already, you might try starting up with Command + Option + R, or Shift + Option + Command + R. These options will allow you to install different versions of macOS, and load from the internet. Do you see anything different in Disk Utility with these other startup methods? Mac startup key combinations


If you still don't see your internal hard drive, that's when we recommend contacting Apple directly: Contact Apple Support
