SSL error when accessing apps on 4g

Why do I get an SSL error when using certain apps on 4g, when they work fine on wifi?

Could be that your cellular provider is attempting to intercept or modify your data on its way to the server that the app is trying to contact. The actual text of the SSL error could tell more, if it provides any detail.
