how to see messages on macbook

I'm tryna look through my messages on my MacBook and not my phone, how do I do that?

use same Apple ID on both devices. On the Mac go to messages preferences and se if there is a check box for iCloud. On the other device go to messages in settings and under "text message forwarding " turn on the proper device as shown.
