Unable to bind an apple watch to iPhone 6 12.5.2

Hi, the may father has an iPhone 6 updated to the last supported iOS (12.5.2)

He has an Apple Watch 3 which discharged completely so I have to pair it again with the iPhone.

The problem is that the Watch needs to be updated to continue the pairing and the watch app is asking to update iPhone software to continue (which is already installed at the latest available version).

So I cannot pair the device again with that iPhone.

Anyone as suggestions? Thanks

Ok, thanks, just one more question:

The watch was already paired with that iPhone and then it was unused for time. Now how can it be it has updated to a version the same iPhone cannot pair with? maybe after initial pairing the iOS version can update the watch to greater version supported by that watch?

If the watch is running WatchOS6 then you need a phone with at least ios13.

If the watch is running WatchOS7 then you need a phone with at least ios14.

Your iphone 6 will only update to ios12,you need an iphone 6s or higher to pair with that watch.

The watch must have been paired with a phone capable of updating the watch to Watchos6 or 7,what version of watchos in the watch running?.
