Someone (not me!) has been on a dodgy site on their iMac and has received email threats saying they have evidence of this and will pass it on to all contacts unless a Bitcoin ransom is paid. Advice please???
Delete the email, and do not interact with the message or the sender.
Such messages are scams from criminals.
No. They are not. It's a scam. they got the credentials included in the email from a data leak from a 3rd party site.
No one has hacked the Mac.
Though if the email lists a password they are currently using, they should change the password on all the sites they have credentials for, and use *different* passwords for each site.
They are already in the computer!!
