I need to restore Keychain to an earlier time, somehow Keychain itself has deleted the majority of my passwords. It seems to have happened through iCloud. How do I get back what was on my Keychain? This is for all my devices

The 2FA has its own importance , the secondary authentication is disabled permanently after 14 days , if this is a single Mac and no other devices are synced time machine will restore the files but you can't read the passwords as they will be again restored in user library > in keychain folder .

In case if other devices like Mac / iPhone were always synced with primary Mac share passwords using air drop

Your passwords are stored locally iCloud Keychain SMS support by country and region - Apple Support

Even you have set up time machine , and you restore files Restore items backed up with Time Machine on Mac - Apple Support

The passwords are encrypted they can't be read physically if you restore them , if iCloud Keychain was always turned as on only administrators have authorities to read the passwords when iCloud Keychain is active ( no one apart from you unless you reveal admin password to them ) View the information stored in a keychain on Mac - Apple Support

Yes I know about this, but the problem is not with Safari or its settings, its with Keychain itself. The passwords were there, now they are gone. I did not delete them, they were on Keychain on my MacBook Air, then they were removed as if iCloud was updating the MackBook Air by removing, not restoring, but removing the existing passwords. I need to know how to rewind the clock on Keychain itself and get back my passwords. Any ideas?

The SMS article applies only if you are not using two factor authentication. All the files Time Machine has for Keychain are not restorable and the restore button is greyed out. Keychain encryption and access are not the issue, missing passwords are the issue. I need to get into iCloud itself and have access to my records and have the ability to restore an older file.

Do you know anything about this?

What can I say? I was away for about 10 days, came back and found my iMac was no longer auto filling my passwords. When I looked in Keychain Access the records of the passwords were no longer there. I opened my MacBook Air and looked in Keychain Access on that system and all the records passwords were present. I turned both systems off and on and a sync took place, deleting the records and passwords from the laptop system as well.

This was 100% done by iCloud and Keychain
