Hello,
Woke up this morning and my phone was on Do Not Disturb (because of Apple Watch Sleep Tracking) and saw a number 1 in the bubble next to WhatsApp. Opened the app and there were no new messages. It definitely wasn't there before I went to sleep.
Any idea what is going on?

Probably you may know that the badge or notification is triggered by the App.
I've seen many people requesting help for WhatsApp on here and getting helpful replies. From what I have read the notification badge is a phone issue and not an app issue.
