iMessages Uploading to iCloud Paused

Hi all,

I just made the switch to iPhone from Android (Pixel 3).

My messages were working fine yesterday but now that I'm trying to sync iPhone messages with my Mac, I get "Uploading to iCloud Paused - Plug in your device and connect to WiFi" at the bottom of messages on iPhone. New messages are appearing on both mac and iPhone but not older messages (not even messages I sent/received earlier today).

I followed the instructions from MoonJ here, but it did not work.

Thanks for the help!

Hello Link3,

It sounds as though you're wanting to sync your messages with iCloud, and use text message forwarding. From the message that you're receiving have you verified that your iPhone is currently connected to a charger and connected to Wi-Fi? If not, you will want to have your iPhone charging and connected to Wi-Fi as that is required for messages to sync to iCloud. If your iPhone is disconnected from either the sync would pause.

If you continue to have issues syncing your messages you will want to confirm the Messages in iCloud settings as outlined in the following article.

Use Messages in iCloud

For Text Message forwarding you'll want to make sure that you're signed in to iMessage on both your iPhone and Mac, and that your mobile number is added to iMessage. You can find the steps for setting up iMessage in the following articles, along with adding your phone number, and setting up Text Message forwarding.

Good day Link3,

We're glad you were able to determine that the iCloud storage was full. That could have been a contributing factor for the issue you're facing. Storing information to iCloud is important, and if you want to continue having photos backed up to iCloud, and store additional information you can look in to upgrading your iCloud storage plan. That is of course your personal preference. More information about upgrading iCloud storage can be found in the following article.
