Why when I am connecting to my office server via Microsoft remote desktop can't I use my macbook pro's trackpad to pinch and zoom in/out?

Hi there ann2766,

It appears that you're having a problem using the trackpad on your Mac while connected to your office's server using Microsoft Remote Desktop. You're unable to pinch the display in or out, and we're glad to provide assistance.

How to reset the SMC of your Mac - Apple Support -- Reset the System Management Controller of your Mac, then test the issue.

Reset NVRAM or PRAM on your Mac – Apple Support -- If resetting the SMC didn't resolve the issue, reset NVRAM and test again.

If you're still facing this issue, please reply with the answers to the following questions:

  • Which model of Mac you're using, and which macOS it's currently on?
  • At what point did the trackpad lose it's ability to zoom in?
  • Does it work as expected other than when using Microsoft Remote Desktop?
  • Is there any update for the Remote Desktop app?

Feel free to get back to us with any questions or problems you may have.

All the best.
