I’m trying to use iPad mini 3 as home hub and add iPhone 7 as an accessory. Is it not compatible?

Is iPad mini 3 compatible to use as hub on home app?

iPad mini 3, iOS 12

Hello Dave_357,

We understand you're trying to use your iPad mini as a home hub, and add your iPhone 7 as an accessory.

Your iPad mini can be used as a home hub. For details, please see how to Set up your HomePod, HomePod mini, Apple TV, or iPad as a home hub. Please note that your IPad must remain in your home, powered on, and connected to your home Wi-Fi network to be used as a home hub.

To add an accessory to the Home app, it has to be a HomeKit accessory. An iPhone is not a HomeKit accessory. See how to Add a HomeKit accessory to the Home app.

You can also view accessories and information on using the Home app through this link: Home

Cheers!
