upgrade mac os x 10.9.

Good afternoon, I have an old mac 13 inch alluminum late 2008, Processor 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, Memory 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 and Software: OS X 10.9.5 (13F1911). Due to Apple not supporting the OS X 10.9.5 anymore many of my programs are not updating. Is there any update available to other type of software that is compatible? Despite of being old, it is really a very good laptop and I don't want to replace it. Please help.

Back up your data, check your applications for compatibility, and click on El Capitan.
