I'm unable to search Notes in Big Sur M1 MBP

I just got the new M1 Macbook Pro w/ Big Sur 11.2.3. All my notes transferred through iCloud but the search feature in Notes is not working. Typing anything shows 0 results. Searching the same notes on my iPhone and iMac working correctly.

I looked online and did the following but no success:

  1. Spotlight reindex drive using terminal: sudo mdutil -E /
  2. Apple ID -> iCloud -> Unselect and select Notes to refresh the list.
  3. System Preferences -> Spotlight -> Unselect and Select "Other"
  4. Activity Monitor -> close SystemUIServer
  5. Activity Monitor -> closer Finder

None of these seem to work. Any ideas?

Hi there kazi489,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you are not able to search Notes on your Mac. You did try some great steps to troubleshoot this issue. Learn more about what to try here: If searching your Mac returns unexpected results.

Keep in mind that reindexing your Mac can take some time and making changes, like toggling iCloud and and off will cause the Mac to need to reindex again. Learn more here: Rebuild the Spotlight index on your Mac.

We hope this helps!
