Vouchers

I recently left my job and my colleagues very generously gave me quite a sizeable sum - we're talking £100s - in App Store and iTunes vouchers as a leaving gift. Would I be able to put these towards the purchase of a new iPhone or iPad, or are they exclusively for buying apps and iTunes purchases?
