Can't open "Macintosh HD" because I don't have Permissions Message

I keep getting the following message:

The folder "Macintosh HD" can't be opened because you don't have permission to see its contents.

How do I fix this? I am the only user/owner of the computer so I know I have permission.

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 10.13

Hello Cindy,

Thanks for choosing the Apple Support Communities. If we understand correctly, you are unable to access your Macintosh HD folder because your permissions are not set to do so. We can understand why you'd reach out for a solution.

Here is a resource that can help. This guide will walk you through how to set your permissions to access that.

Change permissions for files, folder, or disks on Mac

Cheers!
