Shazam can't analyze internal audio

Hi there,

Ever since I moved to a new MacBook Air M1 (macOS Big Sur) and freshly installed Shazam from the App Store the app doesn't recognize music when it's being played through headphone's. On my iPhone this works perfectly. I can listen to music with plugged-in headphones and Shazam a song. On my Mac however it only works over microphones (MacBook Air mic or headphone mic) and not by analyzing the internal audio.

Also on my old MacBook Pro Retina 2012 it worked all well with internal audio and Shazam.

Is this an individual problem or is it macOS (Big Sur) or Architecture (M1) specific?

Thanks for the help,

cheers

This is probably the most dumb and unhelpful answers I've seen on the Internet. Apps have been able to access to internal audio of the operating system for ages. Just do some research before replying nonsense and try to sound smart when clearly you haven't done any. You re not helping anyone. Analyzing music through headphones is a feature of Shazam since 2019, and it should work.

I think you misunderstand my problem.

I have the following situation:

  1. Say I play a radio channel on my iPhone and listen to the music with my headphones (there is no sound in the room). I can then open Shazam on my phone and it will recognize the song being played.
  2. Say I play a radio channel on my Mac and listen to the music with my headphones (there is no sound in the room). I then open the Shazam app on my Mac and it won't recognize anything.

My question is, can I make the Shazam app on my Mac work without surrounding sound (like it can work on the phone)?
