Charge iPhone or Apple Watch from an iPad Air USB-C port?

Hi everyone,

Referring to this article:

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT209186

I was wondering if I could do the same thing—charge my iPhone or Apple Watch (or other devices) from an iPad Air 4th gen’s USB-C port (in other words, the iPad Air acts as a power bank).

I tried to plug in and charge my Apple Watch today, it seems working but I wonder if it is officially supported? I’m afraid I could damage my device by doing that.

Thank you!

iPad Air, iPadOS 14

The support page to which you make reference pre-dates release of the iPad Air4. The Air4 shares the same dual-mode USB-C controller - and is capable of providing power to charge other devices - albeit in sacrificing the iPad’s own run-time.
